We are an all-girls' team from Central Ohio. Our school mascot is the unicorn, and we have adapted a Senior Solutions-related version of the unicorn as our team mascot; hence, Ye Olde Unicorns. We enjoy learning together while at the same time laughing hilariously and sometimes maniacally as we share food, quotes and jokes. And by the way, our coach wears insanely cool t-shirts, though we often do not because our school has a uniform.

Brief Submission Description: 
Our invention allows seniors who enjoy playing games like dominoes to continue to engage in their favorite pastimes. The device, the I-SS Domino, is a holder, or dock, in which players place their dominoes. The I-SS has a camera that reads off the names of the dominoes in the dock so that visually impaired players know what pieces they have. The holder could be adapted to hold other types of playing pieces, like cards. Our team used LabView to make a program that can, in certain lighting, recognize and read off dominoes in our prototype dock. The I-SS helps seniors with vision problems such as macular degeneration stay engaged with the activities they have always loved so that they can be happy throughout their older age. Our invention earned us the Innovative Solution Award at our regional competition, and we hope that it can help seniors stay engaged in the future.
