We are five 8th grade boys who love to build and create. We didn't all know each other very well when we started FLL in September, but we have become great friends and have learned so much together. Some of us have done FLL once before with different teams, and for one of us this is the first time. We are very excited to be preparing for our state competition after our success in the regional. The theme of this year's competition was great for our team as we have two members with very special needs concerning food. Doing our research made us think differently about the food we eat because it just made us more aware of where everything comes from. The name of our invention is an acronym of the initials of our names! Our team motto is "To geek or not to geek, is there really any question?" We are very proud to represent our school district, and are thankful for all the great support we have from our school and community.

Brief Submission Description: 
Did you know that trucks carrying refrigerated or frozen food often fail to maintain a safe temeperature? Sometimes the cooling units fail or are turned off to save fuel during transport. Our simple device tracks the time that food is exposed to too-high temperatures. It is highly visible so that the recipient of the cargo, such as a grocery store owner or restauranteur, can immediately see if their cargo was transported safely. The device provides both accumulated time and temperature tracking, so that the recipient can make a good decision about whether to accept the shipment.
