We are US FIRST fans that love the learning through FIRST challenges. Since we could no longer participate as part of the school we decided to create an independent team. This was fairly easy since we are all neighbors.
Inspired by our Senior Partner who loves to cook but has not been able to do since she suffers from Macular Degeneration, we decided to research the visual problems our seniors have nowadays.
Our weekend gatherings have a mission now, to learn about our Seniors. From visiting the assisted living facility at our neighborhood to getting together and HAVING FUN! US First has been the best reason to our getting together!

Brief Submission Description:
Our project intends to help people, like our Senior Partner, with vision loss problems to identify a common products by reading a bar code that will then be interpreted and spoken to the user through the earphones.
There will be two versions of the Bionic Eye. The economical version in which an assistant will need to place the stickers with barcodes on items and enter the description on the computer application that has to be downloaded to the Bionic Eye.
The Deluxe version, will use the bar code already on the products. This version will also allow you to have personalized codes if needed. This version will need to be plugged to a computer periodically in order to update the bar code data base.
